Departure begins from Puno Port where a boat will transport participants to the first destination the Uros Islands.
The Uros people are descendants of the Aymara and reside on artificial floating islands a practice that has persisted from pre-Inca and Inca periods to the present day.
The islands and a significant portion of their dwellings are constructed using totora a local aquatic plant. Historically the Uros people engaged in bird and fish hunting egg collection and limited agriculture. Currently tourism is a primary economic activity contributing to the preservation of their cultural heritage. Wow this place is something else
Following the Uros visit the journey continues by boat for two hours to Amantani Island located at 12572 feet (3832 meters) one of the key islands within Lake Titicaca. A traditional lunch is provided at a local family’s home as part of a cultural exchange.
The afternoon includes a hike to Pachatata or Pachamama two mountains offering panoramic views comparable to Aramu Muru. This location is known for its sunset views. After the hike participants return to their overnight stay at a traditional Amantani family home.
The second day starts with breakfast alongside the Amantani family. After breakfast participants depart Amantani Island by boat to Taquile Island. Taquile features scenic paths traditional homes and lake viewpoints. The island is known for its textiles crafted by local artisans.
Lunch and a demonstration of natural plant-based alpaca fiber dyeing are included in the Taquile visit. Following the visit participants return by boat to Puno. For those continuing to Cusco transport to the Puno bus terminal area is provided. This is a long haul
